Fire

Psychological (Freud)
Psychologically, fire embodies the hot, untamed drives of the psyche: desire and passion, and at once an anger that threatens to consume. Its blaze can mirror creative energy as much as a wish to destroy the old.
Oriental reading
In Oriental-Islamic interpretation, fire is many-sided: a tamed, useful fire may mean knowledge, guidance or provision, while a spreading blaze points to strife, war or a severe trial. If it burns one's property, it warns of loss.
European folk (dream-book)
By old folk belief fire in a dream reads by its manner: a bright, quiet flame on the hearth foretells love, household happiness and a warm winter, but a roaring blaze means quarrel, sickness or loss. Houses burning fiercely are held in some country places to foretell a death in the kindred. He who warms himself at the fire shall have a glad visitor at the door, while he who is scorched will meet anger and a heated word.
Common dream scenarios
House on fire
A burning house points at your own interior life: something familiar - a part of your life or a relationship - is being consumed by pressure. In Oriental-Islamic reading it warns of quarrel, illness or upheaval within the family; psychologically it reveals a conflict that can no longer smoulder out of sight.
Getting burned
Burning yourself in a dream means taking harm from your own passion, anger or a risky venture. Tradition often reads it as a warning that something coveted will be paid for with loss or guilt; emotionally you have touched a limit it would have been wiser not to cross.
Warm campfire
A calm, warming fire is the tamed side of the symbol: shelter, fellowship and a clear inner drive. In Oriental-Islamic reading a useful fire stands for provision, blessing and guidance; psychologically you have turned your passion into a steady source of strength.
Big wildfire
A great fire raging out of control shows a force the dreamer can no longer steer: overflowing rage, a crisis that engulfs everything. Traditionally it points to turmoil, war or a harsh fate in one's surroundings; psychologically it is the moment suppressed emotions break every dam.
