Cipele oličavaju stav sa kojim čovek korača kroz život i spremnost da krene sopstvenim putem; nove cipele mogu odražavati ulazak u nepoznatu ulogu. U dubinskoj psihologiji ponekad nose i prikriveno erotsko značenje, simbolizujući žudnju i sjedinjenje.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U orijentalno-islamskom tumačenju, cipele često predstavljaju putovanje, supružnika ili životnog saputnika, kao i položaj koji čoveka podržava; nove cipele koje dobro pristaju obećavaju dobru vezu ili uspešan polazak.
