Prsten, kao zatvoren krug, simbolizuje vezivanje, celovitost i obećanje trajnog sjedinjenja, često sa izrazito erotskom obojenošću. Izgubljen ili slomljen prsten može otkriti nesvesni strah od razdvajanja, ili potisnutu želju da se čovek oslobodi obavezujuće veze.
