Dubinska psihologija ogledalom suočava sanjača sa sopstvenom slikom o sebi i napetošću između idealnog ega i stvarne osobe. Iskrivljen, zamućen ili nepoznat odraz odaje narcističku nesigurnost ili odbačen deo koji nastoji da izađe na svetlost.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U orijentalnom i islamskom tumačenju, ogledalo često predstavlja stanje sopstvene nutrine, ugled, a isto tako i supružnika, dete ili preokret u okolnostima. Jasna slika nagoveštava bistrinu i dobar glas, dok se razbijeno ogledalo čita kao razdvajanje, bolest ili preokret sudbine.
