Sa psihološkog stanovišta, preminuli rođak retko utelovljuje samu smrt, već pre trajni unutrašnji odnos, neprerađenu tugu ili neizgovorene reči. Takvi snovi mogu izvirati iz želje da se dovrši oproštaj, razreši krivica ili da se unutrašnji vodič ponovo oživi.
