Psihološki (Frojd)
Ptica često utelovljuje čežnju duše da se uzdigne iznad svojih unutrašnjih ograničenja i može da odražava potisnutu želju za slobodom i samoostvarenjem. U dubinskoj psihologiji njen let stoji i za uzlazne misli, želje ili unutrašnji poriv ka odlasku koji traži izraz.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U orijentalno-islamskom tumačenju snova u tradiciji Ibn Sirina, ptica je glasnik: lepa ptica koja peva nagoveštava dobre vesti, putovanje ili ugled, dok ptica u kavezu ili bolesna ptica može da ukaže na zaustavljene poslove. Po predanju se često tumači i kao simbol samog čoveka i njegove sudbine.
