Căutarea stăruitoare în vis arată adesea spre o nevoie neîmplinită pe care mintea conștientă nu o poate numi încă, fie un dor de iubire, de siguranță, fie de o parte pierdută a sinelui. Lucrul căutat este adesea un înlocuitor pentru ceva mai adânc dorit, pe care sufletul se străduiește să-l regăsească.
Interpretare orientală
În tradiția orientală, căutarea vestește o năzuință sinceră care, urmărită cu răbdare, își atinge țelul; a găsi ceea ce căutai făgăduiește împlinirea dorinței și dobândirea binelui. Dacă căutarea rămâne zadarnică, ea povățuiește la stăruință și la încrederea că vremea va dezvălui ceea ce este drept.
