A fi gravidă în vis întrupează adesea ceva ce se coace în adânc — un proiect, o idee sau un nou simț de sine care prinde chip în taină și tânjește să se nască. Poate atinge o dorință adâncă de a crea, dar și temerile legate de răspundere și schimbare.

În citirea orientală și islamică, sarcina este în general socotită o prevestire bună de bunăstare crescândă, o taină bine păstrată sau o pricină ce se coace cu vremea; pentru o femeie poate arăta deopotrivă spre un spor de noroc și spre o grijă.
