Unghiile se leagă de nevoia de ocrotire și de afirmare de sine — sunt deopotrivă armă și podoabă, expresie a felului în care te înfățișezi și te aperi. Unghiile fragile sau roase pot face vizibile mici griji ce te rod ori o tensiune lăuntrică ținută în frâu.
Interpretare orientală
După tradiția orientală și islamică, unghiile stau adesea pentru putere, trai și vigoarea unui om; unghiile îngrijite vestesc bunăstare și bună rânduială, în vreme ce tăierea lor poate fi citită ca achitarea datoriilor ori lepădarea păcatelor.

In folk belief the nails of hand and foot seen in a dream stand for goods, gain, and the wage of one's own labour. Long, well-kept nails promise prosperity and profit, while nails that crack or are torn away were taken by the old dream-book as a sign of quarrels, drudgery, and loss brought on by your own carelessness. To pare your nails in a dream was said to cut away petty troubles and to mend the peace with kinfolk.

Long fingernails
Long, strong nails are read in the Oriental tradition as a sign of growing wealth and reinforced assertiveness. Psychologically they reflect the urge to make yourself felt and to show your 'claws'. If they look talon-like, however, they may hint at suppressed aggression or greed.
Broken fingernail
A broken nail traditionally points to a small loss of strength, money, or standing — a plan that stalls. Psychologically it mirrors the feeling of having lost your grip or protection in some situation. It often warns against overstretching your own resources.
Cutting nails
Cutting your nails in a dream is often a good omen: you free yourself from excess, settle debts, or trim away bad habits. Psychologically it signals deliberate self-care and reining in overgrown demands. But if you cut too deep and draw blood, it warns of a hasty sacrifice.
Dirty fingernails
Dirty or blackened nails in the traditional reading point to worries about reputation, shady dealings, or a guilty conscience. Psychologically they reveal shame over something you want to hide from others. The dream invites you to examine your own 'hands' and motives honestly.
