Din punct de vedere psihologic, sărutul din vis este un simbol dens al dorului de apropiere, de contopire și de a fi primit. Pe cine săruți trădează adesea care dorință inconștientă de iubire ori de împăcare lucrează înlăuntru, iar uneori un dor mutat din legături mai vechi.
Interpretare orientală
În tâlcuirea oriental-islamică, un sărut făgăduiește de obicei împlinirea unei dorințe, dragoste ori un folos de la cel sărutat. Dacă izvorăște din iubire și curăție, este un semn bun; dacă din viclenie, povățuiește la prevedere într-o legătură.
