Un copil în vis trimite adesea spre copilul interior, spre nevoi netrăite, răni timpurii sau o latură vulnerabilă, încă neîmplinită, a sinelui. La fel de bine poate exprima dorința unui nou început sau a unei vitalități nevinovate.
Interpretare orientală
În tradiția orientală, un copil este citit, după starea visului, ca semn al bucuriei și al sporului, ori al grijilor și al micilor obligații apăsătoare. Un copil frumos și râzător este în general privit ca o prevestire bună și un izvor de fericire.

In the old dream-books a child foretells glad tidings and a happy turn in the household, often a small surprise or a letter bearing good news. A weeping child, however, was held by the old folk to be a warning of vexation and petty troubles soon to cross your threshold.

Losing or searching for a child in a dream rarely mirrors real danger; rather it reflects the fear of losing sight of something precious – innocence, a project, a part of yourself. It invites you to ask where you feel overwhelmed and unable to protect something vulnerable.
An unknown child
An unfamiliar child who meets you in a dream often points to something new and freshly born in your life – an idea, a possibility, a still-unfamiliar side of yourself. In the Oriental tradition it can herald unexpected news or a small new beginning.
