Η προσευχή στο όνειρο καθρεφτίζει συχνά μια ήσυχη συνομιλία της ψυχής με τον εαυτό της και μια βαθιά λαχτάρα για στήριξη, όπου ανείπωτες επιθυμίες και μια ανάγκη για συγχώρεση παίρνουν μορφή. Μπορεί να εκφράζει την επιθυμία να παραδώσει κανείς τον έλεγχο και να εμπιστευθεί τον εαυτό του σε μια προστατευτική εσωτερική αρχή που απηχεί μια εσωτερικευμένη γονεϊκή μορφή.
Ανατολίτικη ερμηνεία
Στην ανατολίτικη-ισλαμική παράδοση, η προσευχή στο όνειρο θεωρείται καλός οιωνός, σηματοδοτώντας την ικανοποίηση μιας ανάγκης, την προστασία από τις έγνοιες και έναν δρόμο που οδηγεί στη δικαιοσύνη και στην εσωτερική γαλήνη. Στο πνεύμα του Ιμπν Σιρίν, σε όποιον βλέπει τον εαυτό του να προσεύχεται με ευλάβεια υπόσχονται ευλογία και μια καλή έκβαση των υποθέσεών του.

In the old folk dream-book, praying is a sign that a request will be heard and a matter turned to the good: he who prays in a dream shall find comfort in a hardship and the support of trustworthy folk. To pray in a house of worship promises peace in the home and reconciliation after strife. To see others praying means help draws near from an unlooked-for quarter; but a prayer broken off bids you not leave a venture once begun half-done.

Praying in a mosque
To pray in a mosque in a dream is a good omen for protection, for being received into a benevolent community, and for the granting of a need in an ordered, safe place. Psychologically the sacred space shows that the psyche seeks shelter and belonging and feels its concern held within a larger, supportive frame.
Praying while weeping
To pray in tears in a dream traditionally points to sincere remorse, relief drawing near, and the loosening of a heavy burden of the heart. Psychologically, weeping in prayer stands for a healing breakthrough of held-back feelings, in which tension dissolves and a deep longing finally finds expression.
Praying together with others
To pray together with others in a dream is a good sign of harmony, of support from those close to you, and of a matter that succeeds through joined forces. Psychologically, shared prayer mirrors the need for connection and the experience of not being alone with one's worries but carried by others.
Unable to finish the prayer
To pray in a dream but be unable to complete the prayer points to an unspoken doubt, an unresolved guilt, or a request not yet ripe that calls for inner composure. Psychologically the interruption shows that something within is holding the dreamer back and that an obstacle still wants to be dissolved before fulfillment.
