Στη βαθυψυχολογία η αγελάδα αγγίζει το μητρικό, τρέφον αρχέγονο σύμβολο: την ανάγκη για ασφάλεια, αφθονία και άνευ όρων φροντίδα. Μπορεί να καθρεφτίζει μια βαθιά λαχτάρα για μητρική ζεστασιά ή την ήρεμη, γόνιμη πλευρά της ίδιας της ύπαρξής μας που θέλει να ευνοεί την ανάπτυξη.
Ανατολίτικη ερμηνεία
Στην παράδοση του Ιμπν Σιρίν, η αγελάδα είναι σύμβολο ενός έτους: παχιές, υγιείς αγελάδες προμηνύουν γόνιμους, ευλογημένους καιρούς και ευημερία, ενώ οι ισχνές παραπέμπουν σε στέρηση και κόπο. Μια αγελάδα που δίνει γάλα σημαίνει άφθονα προς το ζην και ευλογία για το σπίτι και την οικογένεια.
Λαϊκή (ονειροκρίτης)
In old folk belief the cow in a dream foretells prosperity and blessed times: a fat, milk-giving cow heralds full larders, easy living and peace within the house. To see one grazing calmly means a fruitful year, while a lean or sickly cow warns of scant days and worries to come. Should the cow chase you, a burden threatens that you do well to turn aside in good time.

By the old Oriental reading a black cow heralds a laborious year that nonetheless yields rich returns - prosperity earned through toil. Psychologically the dark colouring touches the repressed maternal: an abundance one both fears and longs for.
Thin cow
As in Pharaoh's dream, the lean cow signals a barren year: scarce means, worry over provision, a season of doing without. In depth psychology it mirrors the feeling of being inwardly unfed - a lack of security that begs for attention.
Milking a cow
Milking a cow promises lawful gain won by one's own hand - blessing drawn from a dependable source. Psychologically it shows the capacity to nourish oneself and others, a mature embrace of one's own caregiving power.
Cow attacking
An attacking cow inverts the nurturing image: the gentle turns threatening. Traditionally it warns of a year that turns against the dreamer. In depth psychology it points to a smothering, engulfing mother-energy - care that has become a burden and calls for boundaries.
