U snovima sunce može da utelovi oca ili unutrašnji autoritet o čije se svetlosti ego istovremeno greje i plaši da ne izgori. Njegovo izlaženje često odražava zakopanu želju za priznanjem i buđenje stvaralačke životnosti koja je dugo ležala skrivena u nesvesnom.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U tradiciji Ibn Sirina sunce simbolizuje vladara, oca ili osobu visokog ugleda; vedro, blago sunce proriče moć, pravdu i dobru sreću. Pomračeno ili pržeće sunce, naprotiv, opominje na nevolju od onih na vlasti ili na slabljenje ugleda.

By old folk belief, the sun in a dream is among the fairest of signs: rising bright and golden, it promises happiness in the house, good business, and recovery for the sick. Whoever sees it shining, says the dream-book, has glad days ahead and the favour of well-regarded folk. But if it darkens behind clouds or sets blood-red, the old omen warns of sorrow, illness, or the loss of a protector.
