Bašta je slika negovanog unutrašnjeg života, u kome želje rastu, potkresuju se i čuvaju; ne retko nosi i erotske prizvuke željenog tela. Njeno stanje, rascvetalo ili podivljalo, odražava koliko pažljivo duša brine o sopstvenim porivima ili ih zanemaruje.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U orijentalno-islamskom tumačenju bašta stoji za sreću, pobožnost i obećanje raja; zelena bašta puna plodova proriče blagostanje, potomstvo ili čestitu suprugu. Uvenula ili zapuštena bašta, naprotiv, opominje na popustljivost u veri ili u vođenju života.
