Zvezde često utelovljuju daleke, idealizovane ciljeve i čežnje koje lebde visoko iznad svakodnevice ega i čine se jedva dostižnim. Mogu da ukažu na uzvišene ideale, idealizovane uzore ili na želju da se u mraku nađu orijentir i nada.
Orijentalno tumačenje
U tradiciji Ibn Sirina zvezde mogu da stoje za ugledne ljude, učenjake ili velikane jednog naroda; sjajne, postojano blistave zvezde proriču uputu, čast i dobro vođstvo. Zvezde koje padaju ili se gase, naprotiv, tumače se kao gubitak značajnih osoba ili kao propadanje ranga.

In the old folk dream-books, stars are seen as bright omens of fortune: when they twinkle clear and steady, they foretell a turn for the better, a coming betrothal, or wishes soon to be granted. A falling star, says the country lore, marks a soul newly born or one about to depart, while a sky thick with stars above the house promises children and a full harvest. Should they fade behind cloud or mist, the old omen counsels patience, for the luck you await is not yet ripe.
