Psihologia profunzimilor pune oglinda să-l înfrunte pe visător cu propria-i imagine de sine și cu încordarea dintre eul ideal și persoana adevărată. O răsfrângere strâmbă, tulbure ori străină trădează o nesiguranță narcisică sau o parte tăgăduită ce împinge spre lumină.
Interpretare orientală
În tâlcuirea orientală și islamică, oglinda stă adesea pentru starea sinelui lăuntric, pentru faimă, precum și pentru un soț, un copil ori o cotitură a împrejurărilor. O imagine limpede vestește limpezime și un nume bun, în vreme ce o oglindă spartă se citește ca despărțire, boală sau o răsturnare a sorții.

In the old folk dream-books the mirror is a sign of warning: to see oneself in it foretells deceit and slander drawing near, for the glass shows the two faces people wear. Should it break, the old superstition counts it an omen of misfortune, a death in the family, or seven lean years. But a clear and untroubled reflection promises that a hidden truth will soon come to light.

A strange or distorted face in the mirror signals estrangement from yourself. Tradition warns of hypocrisy around you or a false image others hold of you. Psychologically it reveals a disowned part you do not yet recognize as your own.

Seeing no reflection touches the fear of being overlooked or insignificant. Tradition reads the empty surface as loss of identity or an uncertain future. In depth terms the dream asks whether you have lost sight of your own self.
