In the old folk dream-books, clothes seen in sleep foretell your standing and luck among people. To wear fine new garments promises honour, glad tidings soon to arrive, or a rise in others' esteem; but torn, soiled or lost clothing warns of slander, shame and gossip whispered behind your back. To find yourself naked or wrongly dressed is an omen of a small loss or an embarrassing exposure that will shortly befall you.
Scenarii frecvente de vis
New clothes
New clothes in a dream announce a fresh chapter you step into transformed – a promotion, a new standing, a renewed sense of self. In the Oriental reading they are a good omen for honour and prosperity, provided they are clean and well-fitting. Psychologically they show you are taking on a new role and are ready to present yourself to the world differently.
Dirty or torn clothes
Dirty or torn clothes point to inner decay, shame or a damaged reputation – something in your outward facade is crumbling. Traditionally they warn of worry, loss of standing, or a troubled conscience becoming visible to others. In depth psychology they reveal that the mask you wear no longer holds against your true condition.
Being naked in public
Finding yourself among people without clothes is the classic exposure dream: the fear of being seen through, judged or unmasked. Traditionally it may signal the loss of a protective status or impending embarrassment. Psychologically it mirrors vulnerability and both the wish and the dread of being seen with no mask at all.
White clothes
In Oriental and Islamic reading white clothes stand for purity, piety, a clear conscience and good repute. They often herald a phase of inner integrity or an honourable fresh start. Psychologically they point to a need for clarity, sincerity and a self free of pretence.
