Rat u snu je obično pozornica unutrašnjeg sukoba: sukobljene želje, dužnost protiv žudnje, nad-ja protiv nagona. Bojno polje čini vidljivim koliko napetosti i agresije sanjač potiskuje u budnom životu.

Tradicionalno, rat u snu može ukazivati na razdor, poskupljenje ili nemir u okolini, već prema ishodu bitke. Onome ko izađe pobednički ili neozleđen, mnogi čitaju trijumf nad protivnicima i kraj sukoba.

The old folk said a dream of battle and weapons foretells dear years and heavy talk in the village. But whoever returns home unharmed from the field is promised by the old books that all the quarrelling will, in the end, turn out in his favour.
