Nokti se povezuju sa potrebom za zaštitom i samopotvrđivanjem — istovremeno oružje i ukras, izraz toga kako se predstavljamo i branimo. Lomljivi ili izgrickani nokti mogu da učine vidljivim sitne, glodajuće brige ili zadržanu unutrašnju napetost.
Orijentalno tumačenje
