Το νερό είναι ένα από τα πιο πυκνά εμβλήματα του ασυνείδητου και της συναισθηματικής ζωής: το καθαρό νερό υποδηλώνει εσωτερική διαύγεια, το θολό νερό απωθημένες ή ανεπίλυτες κινήσεις της ψυχής. Στη βαθυψυχολογία αγγίζει συχνά τη γέννηση, τη μήτρα και τη ροή της ίδιας μας της επιθυμίας.
Ανατολίτικη ερμηνεία
Στην ισλαμική ονειροκριτική, το αγνό, γλυκό νερό είναι ισχυρό σημάδι ζωής, ευλογίας, γνώσης και θεμιτού κέρδους. Το θολό ή αλμυρό νερό, αντίθετα, ερμηνεύεται ως έγνοια, αρρώστια ή αθέμιτο κέρδος.

By old folk belief, clear, running water in a dream points to luck, health, and a fair turn of affairs; to drink from a pure spring foretells glad tidings and blessing in the house. Murky, muddy, or rushing water, by contrast, warns of vexation, tears, or false news. A flood or rising waters, says the dream-book, heralds cares that break over you, or money streaming into the house or out of it.

The dream advises against drinking from this murky water, that is, against making unclean decisions.
Flood
A flood traditionally signifies an overwhelming trial, upheaval, or punishment that sweeps away whole areas of life. The dream shows that something repressed is now forcing its way to the surface with great power.
Drowning in water
Drowning in water warns in Oriental interpretation of sinking into worldly desires, a severe temptation, or being engulfed by a matter that consumes you. In depth psychology you feel flooded by emotions or responsibility and risk losing control and yourself. The dream asks you to find solid ground before you are pulled all the way under.
