Ο χρυσός λάμπει στο όνειρο ως έμβλημα του πιο πολύτιμου, η εικόνα εκείνου του εσωτερικού θησαυρού ταλέντου, αγάπης ή αυτοεκτίμησης που η ψυχή φυλάει και ζητά να φέρει στο φως. Όμως η λάμψη του μπορεί επίσης να προδίδει μια ναρκισσιστική λαχτάρα για θαυμασμό, ή τον φόβο της απώλειας του πολύτιμου, που το μετατρέπει μεμιάς σε φορτίο.
Ανατολίτικη ερμηνεία
Στην ανατολίτικη παράδοση, ο χρυσός είναι συχνά δίκοπο σημάδι για τους άνδρες, παραπέμποντας περισσότερο σε έγνοια, απώλεια ή σε μια βαριά ευθύνη παρά σε καθαρό κέρδος. Για τις γυναίκες, ωστόσο, μπορεί να υπόσχεται στολίδι, τιμή και χαρά· σε κάθε περίπτωση ο χρυσός των ονείρων συμβουλεύει να φυλάει κανείς ό,τι του εμπιστεύτηκαν με σοφία και ευγνωμοσύνη.

Folk wisdom gives warning: gold gleams fair in a dream, yet it most often deceives. To find or hoard gold is, in many a village tale, the herald of worry, quarrels over inheritance, or false friends who come only for their own gain. Gold given away or lost, by contrast, loosens the cares and foretells a pure gain of the heart; and whoever dreams of golden coins is told by the old superstition to expect tears soon, for 'gold in sleep brings drops by day.'

Psychologically the find points to a newly discovered inner gift or a buried worth within yourself. The question is whether you are meant to guard it or still to test it.
Wearing gold jewelry
Gold jewelry on your own body speaks of self-worth, recognition and the wish to be valued. In the Oriental tradition wearing gold is often favourable for women, yet for men a cautionary sign of vanity or burden. Psychologically it shows how much you wish to display your own worth or have it confirmed.
Losing gold
Losing gold touches the fear of forfeiting something precious – security, a relationship, a part of your own worth. Traditionally it points to loss, disappointment or an opportunity slipping away. Psychologically the dream asks whether you are neglecting a true inner gift or anxiously clinging to something already slipping from your grasp.
Receiving gold as a gift
Receiving gold as a gift points to esteem from others, a recognition or a trust being placed in you. In the Oriental reading the gift is ambivalent: it can mean honour, but also an obligation that weighs on you. Psychologically it invites you to examine whether you can accept others' regard without becoming dependent on it.
