Ένα βιβλίο παραπέμπει στην ανάγκη να διαβάσει και να κατανοήσει κανείς την ίδια του τη ζωή και μπορεί να σημαίνει ένα κλειστό κεφάλαιο ή ένα φυλαγμένο μυστικό της ψυχής. Το άνοιγμα ή η αναζήτηση μέσα του καθρεφτίζει συχνά την επιθυμία για αυτογνωσία και για απαντήσεις κρυμμένες στο ασυνείδητο.
Ανατολίτικη ερμηνεία
Στην ανατολίτικη-ισλαμική ερμηνεία, το βιβλίο συμβολίζει τη γνώση, τη σοφία και το πεπρωμένο που έχει δοθεί στον άνθρωπο· το να λαμβάνει κανείς ένα βιβλίο στο δεξί χέρι θεωρείται καλός οιωνός καθοδήγησης και υποθέσεων που τελειώνουν καλά. Ένα κλειστό ή δυσανάγνωστο βιβλίο παραπέμπει σε κρυμμένη γνώση ή σε μια έκβαση που δεν έχει ακόμη αποκαλυφθεί.
Λαϊκή (ονειροκρίτης)
In folk belief a book in a dream is a message from fate: to open it and read within foretells important news or a letter from afar. A fine new book promises honour and glad tidings, while a torn or dusty one is the omen of forgotten duties and an old quarrel that will be dragged back into the light.

Receiving a book as a gift
In Oriental-Islamic reading a gifted book announces knowledge, good counsel or a piece of life-wisdom reaching you from outside. Psychologically you are accepting an insight you have not yet granted yourself. Notice who hands you the book, for they point the way.
An old book
An old, yellowed book points to inherited knowledge, your origins and the wisdom of ancestors. It may invite you to reread and finally understand a long-closed chapter of life. Buried memories are seeking the light.
A closed book
The closed book stands for a guarded secret, hidden knowledge or an area of life still sealed to you. Something in you is not yet ready to be read. It is up to you whether you open it or let it rest.
Reading in a book
If you read in the dream, you are seeking orientation and an answer to an open question in your life. Oriental interpretation promises clarity and an understanding of your own destiny. If you can decipher the script, insight is near; if it stays blurred, you lack the maturity for it yet.
