От дълбиннопсихологична гледна точка починалият близък рядко въплъщава самата смърт, а по-скоро продължаващата вътрешна връзка, непреработената скръб или неизречените думи. Такива сънища могат да извират от копнежа да се завърши едно сбогуване, да се разреши вина или да се възкреси един вътрешен наставник.
Ориенталско тълкуване

By old folk reckoning a deceased relative comes in a dream as a messenger of warning or weather: if they speak, heed their words, for the elders held that the dead return to caution against danger or to call for reconciliation. In some country lore their appearance was likewise said to foretell a change of weather or coming rain.

A deceased mother in a dream usually touches the inner bond with security, support and unconditional acceptance. If she appears calm and loving, it is a comforting sign and often points to inner peace; if she admonishes or weeps, she invites you to look at an unresolved feeling toward her.

A deceased father often stands for inner authority, protection and the theme of guidance and responsibility in your life. His appearance can mirror a longing for advice and approval – or your inner reckoning with his values, which you either carry on or wish to leave behind.

When a dead person speaks to you in a dream, it is worth taking their words seriously – traditionally they are seen as a message, warning or comfort. Psychologically it is your own deeper wisdom, appearing in a familiar form to voice something you find hard to admit while awake.
Embracing a dead relative
Lovingly embracing a dead relative is a healing, often comforting image: it reflects the need for farewell, reconciliation and lasting connection. In the Oriental reading it is a good sign and may point to peace with the past and a grieving process that is finding its resolution.
